  • Once you are registered for the expedition, Dr. Kari will be in touch with flight information. You do not have to book the same flights as the rest of the group, however you will need to land at the same airport in South Africa (Johannesburg) by a specific time to catch any group transportation with the group. • While timelines and specifics may vary, here is our typical expedition itinerary:

    1. Safari Camp (Days 1-4):
Upon arrival, we spend the first three days at a safari camp to decompress after the long flights. Here, you’ll embark on multiple game drives daily and begin learning about African wildlife.

    2. Research Facilities (Days 5-9):
We then move to our research facilities, where we stay for 5-7 days. You will gain hands-on experience with the field and laboratory techniques we use to monitor elephants in the wild. During this period, game drives are available, and we typically dedicate a day or two to working with our partners, Elephants Alive and the Black Mambas, to observe their daily conservation efforts.

    3. Kruger National Park (Final Days):
The final days are spent in and around Kruger National Park. Here, we explore the park and go on our last game drives, culminating in an immersive experience of South Africa’s diverse wildlife.

  • Spots are limited and will be held on a first come, first serve basis, with your spot only guaranteed after you pay the trip deposit. If you are interested in attending the next expedition, email us at contact.forelephants@gmail.com.

  • While we will encounter a diverse array of species during our time in Africa, we cannot guarantee sightings of any particular animal.
